Democrats have lately made much of the popularity of the Medicare program. We are told everyone loves it. It is cited as an example of how wonderful the government is at managing health care.
Is this some sort of colossal joke?

The difficult economic times have "further deteriorated” the Medicare Trust Fund and the program that pays for Part A hospital services will be exhausted by 2017 unless there is "prompt action" to safeguard the program, according to a report released today by the Medicare Board of Trustees.
Medicare is broke. It costs astronomically too much. Of course its beneficiaries love it. Like the Cash for Clunkers program, it’s nothing but free money. People like free money. Is that news? The problem is where does the free money come from?
The answer is, it doesn’t. There is no such amount of money anywhere nor will there be.
This is just a bunch of lying politicians telling the American people they can have unlimited goodies for nothing. Indeed, you could not get enough money to pay for this stuff if you confiscated 100% of all the business profits in America, not to mention the fact that any such tax rate would cause all business to go out of business and there would be no tax revenue for anything.
